Systematic Market Internals

❝

NASDAQ 100 (QQQ)

  • Price Action: QQQ added 0.18% to close the last session at 718.96, up 0.35% overall on the week. The calm surface hides something sharper underneath. The average stock broke into Bear Liquidation after the week’s close while the mega-caps powered higher, the widest structural split of the current stretch.

  • Absolute Breadth: Equal-weight breadth broke into Bear Liquidation at 27.8%, down from 29.2%. Market-cap-weighted breadth actually improved, climbing to 47.4% and holding Bull Consolidation. The Soldiers are in retreat while the Generals advance. These two planes haven't been this far apart for some time.

  • Distortion Context: The distortion score jumped from 12.3% to 19.6% in a single session, deep into Severe Dispersion territory, as MCW surged at the same moment EW regime broke to the downside. QQQ's gain is therefore entirely a mega-cap story. The average ticker in the index is now indicating poor structure.

  • Weekly Context: The weekly timeframe tells a cleaner story. Both EW (35.4%) and MCW (48.1%) remain in Bull Consolidation, with a contained 12.7 point spread, resulting in a Selective Strength territory. The daily Bear Liquidation reading sits beneath a weekly structure that hasn't confirmed the damage yet. Historically, daily regime breaks that fail to migrate to the weekly timeframe have marked short-lived stress events.

S&P 500 (SPY)

  • Price Action: SPY shed 0.39% on Friday to close at 770.19, holding a thin 0.11% gain on the week. The price move doesn't tell the story here. Across 500 names, the average stock just broke into Bear Liquidation.

  • Absolute Breadth: Equal-weight breadth broke into Bear Liquidation at 26.2%, down from 27.7% yesterday, a regime flip that carries real weight given how broad the S&P 500's population is. Market-cap-weighted breadth held Bull Consolidation at 38.9%, essentially flat from 38.8%. Unlike QQQ, the mega-caps here didn't advance. They simply held their ground while the average stock across 500 names slipped beneath them.

  • Distortion Context: The distortion score widened modestly, from 11.1% to 12.7%, classified as Selective Strength territory, and it widened because MCW barely moved at all. This isn't mega-caps surging and dragging the index higher. It's mega-cap stability masking a broad, economy-wide slide in participation across the 500 stock index. Given the breadth of the SPY, the damage in SPY is wider than QQQ's. It's just quieter.

  • Weekly Context: The SPY weekly structure introduces a direct contradiction. On the weekly timeframe, EW (38.3%) leads MCW (29.1%) by 9.2 points, classified as Under-the-Surface Strength. The average stocks organically outpaced the mega-caps across this week. The daily EW plane just broke into Bear Liquidation while the weekly EW sits comfortably in Bull Consolidation. Similar to the QQQ, this kind of daily-versus-weekly opposition across 500 names has marked moments where single-session deterioration and multi-session structural health are actively competing for control of the tape.

Inside The Elite Matrix

❝

This week's systematic activity was compact but pointed. Two strategies fired full exits after Monday's close, then both redeployed into the same positions after Wednesday's close. The rest of the week stayed quiet. Elite members receive each directive after the close, timestamped ahead of next session's open.
